LISC Travels Abroad

Magnus Parente (second most right in the top row) with his Brommapojkarna team in Sweden, 2009. He first joined the team in fall of 2006 and goes back every year for a few weeks to attend the Ålsten-school, play on the team, and show off his LISC skills. As is typical at the elementary school level, all the boys on the team are in the same school class (which says a lot about the level of soccer interest among Swedish boys!). Brommapojkarna (literally meaning the Boys of Bromma) is a Swedish soccer club located in the borough of Bromma <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bromma> , in Stockholm <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockholm> . It is the largest "football" club in Europe in terms of the number of active teams of all ages - there are about 250 teams and over 3,000 players. The club is famous for its youth academy, which has produced numerous top-quality Swedish players throughout the years.

LISC U16 Girls Travel to Denmark and Sweden (their blog)

U16 girls on the coast of Denmark

Our own Owen Kyong-McClain of our LISC U8s (center--the serious one in silver pants) is staying in Chengdu, China while his father is on a dissertation sabbatical from the Univ. of Illinois. His father Jeff reports: "They practice three times a week, and play occasional games (not really an organized league) against primary school teams in the city. He does like it quite a bit. His first Chinese words are almost all soccer related." We look forward to seeing Owen and dad Jeff and mom Jill in September when they return to Urbana and LISC.
